Blueberry Strawberry Trifle with Danish Macaroons (Makroner)

The blueberry strawberry trifle with Danish macaroons is a typical summer dessert. It is characterized by being fresh, super-rich, and easy to make. This berry trifle recipe includes how to make the Danish macaroons (makroner), but you can of course also buy the macaroons in a store, if you have them available close to you.

I like to make a pink cream made of whipped cream and blended strawberries, as you can see in the picture, but it is not necessary. You can also just make layers separately using strawberries and whipped cream. Be creative and enjoy this amazing, mouth-watering blueberry strawberry trifle dessert!

Blueberry strawberry trifle with Danish macaroons

Danish macaroons

  • 1 egg white
  • 50 grams (1/3 cup) almond flour
  • 150 grams (3/4 cup) sugar

Berry trifle

  • 400 grams (2 cups) strawberries
  • 125 grams (3/4 cup) blueberries
  • 5 deciliter (2 cups) heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla powder



  • Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celcius (300 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • Mix all ingredients in a mixer and add the mixture to a piping bag.
  • Pipe the mixture into 2-inch circles on the parchment paper.
  • Bake the macaroons for 20-25 minutes. Allow complete cooling before use.

Berry trifle

  • Cut the strawberries into smaller pieces. Add a bit of sugar, if the strawberries aren’t naturally sweet enough.
  • Add vanilla powder to the heavy cream and whip into whipped cream.
  • Crush the macaroons and set aside.
  • Take a small handful of the strawberries and put them in a blender. Combine the blended strawberries with ¾ parts of the whipped cream and stir gently.

Make the trifle

  • Add a bit of whipped cream with blended strawberries in the bottom of the glass. From here, add the elements in the following order:
  • Small pieces of strawberries
  • Crushed macaroons
  • Whipped cream
  • Whole blueberries
  • Crushed macaroons
  • Whipped cream with blended strawberries
  • Finish the trifle with small pieces of strawberries and whole blueberries.
