Honey-Walnut and Oat Bars with Chocolate Topping Recipe

Try to make these homemade honey walnut bars with rolled oats and chocolate topping. It’s an easy recipe that can be made in less than 30 minutes. You can keep the bars in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and they taste amazing. Other nuts can replace the walnuts such as almonds or hazelnuts.

Honey Walnut and Oat bars with Chocolate Topping

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/4 cup (100 grams) rolled oats
  • 1 cup (100 grams) walnut kernels, coarsely chopped
  • 5 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup (50 grams) butter
  • 1/4 cup (50 grams) brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup (50 grams) chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Heat up a dry frying pan and add the chopped walnut kernels.
  • Toast the walnuts until they become light brown.
  • Add rolled oats, honey, butter, brown sugar, and salt and stir well. When the sugar has melted remove the pan from heat.
  • Cover a small baking tray with parchment paper, and pour in the walnut mixture.
  • Place the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl and set the bowl directly in water. Bring the water to a boil and remove from heat. Let the chocolate chips sit until melted.
  • Use a spoon to spread out the chocolate over the walnut bars. Be creative 🙂
  • Cut the walnut mixture into bars before it has set completely. Place the baking tray in the fridge and let cool.
